Hi, i just borrowed your book “just enough” from the library in singapore.
I have been travelling to the southern region for the last 4 years, just driving up from singapore, going around the southern provinces, meeting people, talking, taking photos. for me, i have gotten quite close to the people from Saiburi, so i come primarily from the thai chinese perspective, although i have spent some time meeting and making contacts with the local malays. i guess im just saying hi to you- someone with the same interest in the region.

It’s so wonderful to get your message. When you write a book it just gets released into the world and you have no idea what happens, if it ever gets read, if people enjoy it, if it has any meaning for its readers. I am tickled just to hear that it was in the library and you took it out! And I am deeply touched that you found it interesting enough that you are moved to write me about it. It’s really cool that you have been traveling and making connections in the region. One of the many unfortunate side effects of the conflict is that there have been so few visitors to the region. A great friend of mine is a Thai-chinese scholar who has spent a lot of time making connections in the region and has written about it, but mostly in Thai. His name is Sorayut Aiemueayut.
